Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse Invites the Public to bid Farewell to the Oakland Location

Reminisce, celebrate and say a proper goodbye at the Pittsburgh Playhouse’s Lights Out Celebration

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Pittsburgh Playhouse is opening its doors one last time for the public, alumni, faculty, staff, performers and anyone who has enjoyed the Pittsburgh Playhouse throughout its 85 years to say goodbye. Before moving to the new, six story, state-of-the-art teaching and theatre facility in downtown Pittsburgh this fall, the Pittsburgh Playhouse invites all of those impacted by the theatre to eat, drink and celebrate with cocktails and hor d'oeuvres in the Rockwell Theatre to bid farewell to the Oakland residence.

The farewell celebration will be held on Monday, June 18 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, 222 Craft Ave., 7p.m.-10p.m. Tickets go on sale on Thursday, March 15 and can be purchased by calling the Pittsburgh Playhouse box office at 412-392-8000 or visiting Ticket pricing to be announced.

“This is the public’s last chance to say goodbye to this theatre and Pittsburgh icon that we have grown up in and has been our home for the performing arts for decades,” said Pittsburgh Playhouse producing director and Point Park University alumna, Kim Martin. “This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the past and the future of the Pittsburgh Playhouse before we turn the lights off in the Oakland location for the final time… Together.”

The celebration will be sure to culminate the essence of the Pittsburgh Playhouse properly with entertainment by Gary Racan & the Studio E Band, dancing, open mic and Playhouse memorabilia.
