Pittsburgh Playhouse at Point Park University to present Pippin

Over the past three weeks, leaders of the Pittsburgh Playhouse at Point Park University and the Conservatory of Performing Arts have held wide-ranging, honest discussions with students, faculty and staff regarding issues of diversity, inclusion and equity.

As we continue our dialogue and work together to enhance the culture at Point Park in a way that will lead to a more inclusive community, we have made the decision to postpone our production of the show Parade, which was scheduled for April.

In its place, the Playhouse will present the Tony Award-winning musical, Pippin. The 2013 Broadway revival brought renewed luster to this popular work, and we believe it will both challenge our students and delight you, our valued audience.

Featuring one of the most celebrated scores in the history of Broadway, Pippin tells the story of a young prince on a journey fraught with danger in search of meaning for his existence. This extraordinary Broadway classic will feature the Broadway stars of tomorrow. The Pittsburgh Playhouse and Point Park University are proud to share this production with you, a show that will feature both a visual extravaganza as well as the most talented young performers in the country.

With a book by Roger O. Hirson and music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Pippin has won an astonishing nine Tony Awards between its original run in 1973 and the 2013 revival. This production is not to be missed, and we are excited to share it with you!
