From the onset of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), Point Park University has followed the guidance of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to protect the safety and well-being of the Point Park University community, including patrons of the Pittsburgh Playhouse and the George Rowland White Performance Studio, which remains the University’s highest priority.

While custodial staff have intensified cleaning efforts, the single best line of defense against infection and illness is responsible personal hygiene. To protect yourself and those around you, please remember to wash your hands often with soap and water or sanitizer for at least 20 seconds, avoid touching your face, stay home if you are sick, and avoid close contact with those who are sick and/or exhibiting symptoms.

Here are the measures Point Park University is taking across the University, including the Pittsburgh Playhouse and George Rowland White Performance Studio:

  • The University has been and will continue to develop schedules for advanced sanitation for all frequently touched areas, restrooms, and common spaces.
  • There are portable, touch-free Clorox hand sanitizer stations at all of the front entrances to University buildings, a cleaning product specifically manufactured to disinfect during flu outbreaks or for other environmental concerns. Please use them upon entering and exiting the Playhouse.
  • The University uses EPA-certified cleaning products, and ensures that they have “dwell time” to properly disinfect.
  • All dance studios and rehearsal spaces have Oxivir wipes available for personal use, along with hand sanitizers.
  • CDC Signage and best practices are on the University display boards and posted in the restrooms and by the sanitizer stations.

Thank you for your patience as we sort through this unprecedented and uncertain time. We have either canceled or postponed all productions scheduled through May 10th.

Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse is POSTPONING the world premiere production of Pump Up The Volume. The show will be performed on future dates yet to be determined. Please check the Pittsburgh Playhouse website and social media channels for updates.

To continue to respond to this unprecedented, rapidly changing situation and provide a safe environment for our patrons, students and staff, Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse has made the difficult decision to CANCEL the following productions: Pippin, Student Choreography Project, Spring Dance Concert and Neda Ulaby. At this time, these productions will not be rescheduled.

This decision was made in accordance with the CDC guidelines which include avoiding large crowds and gatherings of people.

If you have tickets to these performances, the box office will be contacting you directly about your ticketing options.

All University and Playhouse events and performance schedules are subject to change.

We appreciate your support and patience, and cannot wait to see you back at the Playhouse.
