Curly McClain is a cowboy. Laurey Williams is a farm girl. And in this classic cowboy-meets-farm girl story, music and magic ensue! The first musical written by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Oklahoma! won a special Pulitzer Prize in 1944, along with scores of other accolades, including critics' raves for hometown favorite, Shirley Jones. Her son, the talented actor-turned-director Patrick Cassidy, comes to direct Point Park's students in this very special production.
Best known for his roles in musical theatre and on television, director Patrick Cassidy has appeared on Broadway in numerous productions, including The Pirates of Penzance, Leader of the Pack, Annie Get Your Gun, 42nd Street and Elton John’s musical, Aida. He co-starred with his mother, Shirley Jones, in 42nd Street on Broadway, as well as in a production of The Music Man at Music Circus in Sacramento, Calif. He toured nationally with Aida, and won the National Broadway Theatre Award for Best Actor in a Touring Musical for his performance. Cassidy also originated the role of the Balladeer in Stephen Sondheim's Assassins off-Broadway. He has appeared in several films and TV shows, including Castle, CSI, CSI Miami, Smallville, ER, Crossing Jordan, and Law and Order SVU.
