Playhouse Jr. Celebrates 60th Season with Two Shows in May
Playhouse Jr., the children's theatre company of Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts, is proud to celebrate its 60th season with two spectacular shows this May. The musical adaptation of the children's classic tale Charlotte's Web, adapted by Joseph Robinette with music and lyrics by Charles Strouse and directed by Roger D. Henderson, plays on the Rockwell Theater stage May 8-24, 2009. The world premiere of the charming fairytale Five Children and It, based on the novel by E. Nesbit and directed and written by local playwright Yoli, will be performed May 8-24, 2009 on the Rauh Stage, both located at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, the performing arts center of Point Park University. Pittsburgh Playhouse Introduces 'Pay What You Will' Saturdays
The Pittsburgh Playhouse, the performing arts center of Point Park University, is pleased to announce the introduction of 'Pay What You Will' Saturdays.  Patrons may come to the box office at noon before the matinee performances of select shows and name their price (greater than $1) for any available seat in the house.  There is no limit to how many tickets a patron may purchase.  However, all purchases must be made in-person at the Playhouse box office prior to that afternoon's performance; cash and credit cards will be accepted.

'Pay What You Will' Saturdays is currently being offered for the following performances:  Parade, Saturday, March 14 and March 21, 2 p.m.; The Rocky Horror Show, Saturday, March 28, 2 p.m.; and Mojo, Saturday, May 30 at 2 p.m.  For more information, please contact the Playhouse box office at 412-621-4445.

Conservatory Theatre Company Presents The Rocky Horror Show
Point Park University's Conservatory Theatre Company will present Richard O'Brien's cult classic musical, The Rocky Horror Show, at the Pittsburgh Playhouse March 27, 2009 through April 11, 2009; a preview performance is open to the public on Thursday, March 26.  The production is directed by Scott Wise with musical direction by Camille Rolla and choreography by Jeremy Czarniak.  More...

John Shepard, chair of Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts theatre department, was recently named Performer of the Year by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for his acclaimed role as Willy Loman in The REP's Sept. 2008 production of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman.  Shepard was among the numerous faculty and alumni recognized for their outstanding work in 2008.  More...
